Can you have an STI without any symtoms?

I have heard that sometimes people are infected with an STI but  never show any symptoms. Is this true?

Yes. Most STIs do not show any symptoms and are often passed between sexual partners before symptoms arise. Remember that the only way to be certain that you or your partner is not infected with an STI is to be tested.
